Oh So Sweet Omelet

March 28, 2009

this omelet was great.  all of the flavors really came through and mixed well to create a fruity omelet which was the ultimate goal. originally i was just going to go along with the “appleberry omelet” (see below) but i guess i got carried away. it happens! i think the best element was definitely the walnuts. they were spread out well and added a nice crunch to the meal.

for next time: thinner slices of banana, thicker chunks of apple.  the berries were frozen, so they had a lot of syrup. i thought that this would be good, but it ended up making the omelet a bit soggy. next time: use fresh berries. my dad took a bite and enjoyed the omelet. afterwords he commented and thought that pecans would be a great alternative. i agree. so next time ill give that a go.  while eating, i tried putting a little chocolate syrup on a bite. it was awesome. so i think not only if people prefer they can put on chocolate syrup, but i think that if they would enjoy putting maple syrup on it, that would be a wise choise as well. maybe even a scoop of vanilla ice cream? i don’t know, this isn’t a belgium waffle, its an omelet! maybe there is some way to add some cheese? ricotta? cottage? cream cheese? i think if there was cream cheese on the toast it was have been great.

tip for next time: reoil the pan, the  fluffy omelet sticks easily to the pan.

word up!

i then folded the beat yolk into the whipped whites, put them in the pan, and then put the filling of apples, walnuts and bananas on top and let that cook for a little bit

after very delicately flipping the omelet a few times, it came out to a nice golden yellow.

Not The Best Omelet

March 26, 2009

all of the ingredients were good, just not together. it was kinda bland and didn’t have enough diversity. don’t get me wrong, it tasted good, but it wasn’t a wow-level omelet. maybe it was the proportions, maybe it was the combo of ingredients, but it wasn’t what i was looking for. i learned my lesson.

i’m not upset, i’m disappointed. i don’t want to talk about it anymore.

Mom’s Omelet Commentary

March 26, 2009

so this was another success. i basically just took all of the stuff that my mom likes to eat, threw it in the pan, and just added eggs. actually, it was boxed eggs, my mom likes them because theyre healthier (this really didn’t have much of an impact for better or worse, in terms of taste).

note: no cheese was requested.

the omelet was good. immediately i got a “mmmm” from my mom, so she liked it off the bat. the mix of the textures was good. however, too many cashews this time. they were all over the place. the rest of it blended nicely. my mom said she would write a review for it soon; she ate most of it, so look foward to that.

from what i tasted through, this was delicious.

Pop’s Omelet Commentary

March 25, 2009

so pop’s omelet was a success. it was delicious. it was a great combo of textures and flavors. the mustard and salami was perfectally balanced out by the cottage cheese. i personally think that i shouldve added more grape nuts, but my dad thought it was stupendous.

on the menu i said no garlic, but i added garlic. it was a wise choice. also, i used sliced salami. note for next time: buy a big thing of salami and cut into cubes. it would have added to the salaminess of it all. plus, it would have been easier to measure out in the preliminary stages.

overall, im very proud of my first official killer omelet of the blog.

if you have any ideas, suggestions, let me know! i hope you enjoy this blog!

and what does pop have to say about “pop’s omelet”? the picture speaks for itself. although i think that OJ would have been a much wiser choice.

cheese and chloresterol

March 25, 2009
obviously cheese is included in all of these omelets, but i figured that was a given so i didnt include it in the description. everybody loves cheese. especially me.
my chloresterol level must be through the roof right now…whatever, gotta have my eggs!

menu ideas

March 25, 2009

here are some interesting omelets i think would be good, some of them i have made, some of them are just ideas. so far the ones i have made have been darn tasty.

i still have to create “The Killer Omelet.” hopefully, it will be good enough to kill someone. once i have an idea of what it could possibly be, i will let you know.

let me know what you think of these ideas. maybe i’ll make one for you?
